18 Months Nicotine-Free!

I quit smoking 18 months ago today. It wasn't easy, but it was so worth it. At $5 per pack, one pack per day for 549 days, I have saved about $2,745. The best part is that I am no longer a slave to the master nicotine.

Hooray for Mike! I quit when I was 38; having smoked since I was 15. I have now been a non-smoker longer than I was a smoker, and I am still very proud of doing it. It was the hardest thing I've ever done. Congratulations!

Congrats on the continued freedom!

Being free of that nagging urge taking up all the brainspace is the best reward of all.
I'm over my four years (n until forever) point.
The tough part is watching all the other folks at work going nutso over that uncontrollable chemical desire, n wishing everyone could all hurry up n quit too.
Seeing close folks I care about unable to kick it is hard.

Of they only knew how much better it feels not to need it!

You should blog all the things you could think of to spend $2745 on. :)

Awesome!

Found out a couple of years ago that I am allergic to cigarette smoke. For years I bartended in smoked-filled bars so even when I quit smoking, I always had the 'cough'.

Now, I've been cigarette free since January '04.

Like the others I wish to congratulate you! You must be very proud of yourself.

I've not been around for a bit. A family tragedy meant I needed time away, but I'm glad to be back in time to raise a glass to your accomplishment.

Congratulations! Just think how rich you'll be if you keep it up. I've never smoked so I have no idea how hard this must have been for you.
Michele sent me back again. Hope you find this comment as it's an old post.

Congratulations!!
It has been 10 years for me and I was one of those who was never going to quit. I smoked 2 1/2 packs a day and am sure I would be on oxygen today and broke.....
Like Kenju said..."it was one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life".
